Rubbish Removal And Recycling The 3 Recycling Commandments}

Submitted by: Peter Joyce

No – im not some fanatic. But i just couldnt think of a word thats strong enough to convey how important the next rules on recycling are. It is important to recycle, but its even more important to do so properly. Doing so in a wrong fashion might actually hinder you, the recycling facilities and the environment rather than help. Here the 3 commandments that, if you follow, will turn you into a recycling hero – the one we need!

1. Knowledge.

Knowing is half the battle!

While it varies from community to community – knowing what you can recycle or compost is, maybe, the most important thing on which you must educate yourself. More and more recycling facilities are moving to zero-sort systems which in turns is less finicky, but its still not fully implemented everywhere. Search on the web for what you can and cannot recycle and compost to be sure to make the life of your local recycling facility easier and more efficient! This way you’ll ensure that everything is recycled at maximum efficiency and is being delivered to be reused faster and your help to the environment is more evident.

2. Say no to plastic.

Plastic bags are the number one troublemaker for the zero-sort machines. Such bags can get caught in the inner works of the machines and bring the process to a halt which in terms wastes money and time for the facility. Do not throw away your recyclables compacted into some kind of container. The zero-sort system will recognize them as unrecyclable and in turn – throw them as thrash and into the landfill. This creates unnecessary expenses and slow down the facility – not to mention that everything that was recycled along with that one plastic bag in now unfit for recycling and will be delivered to the nearest landfill.

There are dedicated places to dispose properly of plastic bags (most big supermarkets have them).

3. If you dont know – dont throw.

Throwing away unrecyclable items for recycling actually may harm the environment more than help it. The best scenario in such case is for such item to make it to the recycling plant and be recognized as unrecyclable and to need hauling to a landfill and in turn costing me. Worst case scenario – it may cause mechanical issues in the machine or contaminate the final load leading to a rejection. It is good you want to recycle everything – but not everything can be so be sure to look at the package whether or not it says that it is recyclable or not. If youre still not sure whether or not to recycle something or if you generally dont have time, but want to – why not enlist the services of a professional rubbish removal services in your area? Theyll take care of everything including making sure the process goes smooth.

Follow these simple steps and youll be sure that youre properly disposing of your recyclables and that youre keeping the process going smoothly without any problems.
